A duo of artist “hacktivists” have launched a direct and surprisingly effective assault on Facebook. As a component of their installation at Berlin’s current Transmediale Festival, dubbed “Face to Facebook,” they claim to have stolen the publicly-available data and photos from a million Facebook profiles and uploaded them into www.Lovely-Faces.com, a mock dating site that classifies its users by facial type — all as a commentary on the social-media giant’s commercialization of relationships and the lack of privacy guarantees on Facebook.
